It is always good to take a breather with the purpose of counting blessings. Sometimes, in fact, it may feel our blessings arrive on wings.
Enumerating Blessings of Friendship
What inspired this particular blog post first happened when I was standing at my kitchen sink, washing dishes. Sometimes, that is a good time to ponder. All at once, I began thinking of a dear college friend. I was remembering that we used to exchange cards on one another's birthdays. I recalled her birthday was last month and thought to myself, wow, even though we haven't commemorated one another's birthdays for a while, I lamented that I hadn't sent her a card. Shortly thereafter, my husband came in the door. He laid our mail on the table and happened to mention this very friend's name! She had sent me a beautiful card. It was not even my birthday. A couple of her sentences were, "Time goes by so quickly. We need to bless someone every day and I picked you for today!"
I was astounded that I had just been thinking about her before I knew she sent a "random" card! Had I read my husband's mind after he had retrieved the mail? Or, did my friend's heartfelt blessing travel through the ethers? However it occurred, it felt as if this blessing had arrived on wings!
Numbering of Winged Blessings
As a mother who has lost a child, I am ever grateful for the blessing of signs from nature which to me speak of our son. These accounts involve a couple of winged creatures. Here is the story of my first Mother's Day without our son in the physical realm. My Mother's Day Guest tells the marvelous thing a butterfly did for three of us that day. While it is not easy to feel like celebrating holidays when we are bereaved, blessings, such as what we saw this Christmas cardinal do, can easily induce joy: OUR VISITOR.
Another instance of a blessing happened after we lost one of our dogs. This involves a mysterious visitation dream which arrived halfway across the country. It involved a dog from decades ago leading our dog to the other side. The identity of the mystery dog was solved sometime later: The Goodbye Dog.
Begetting Blessings
At times heartfelt desire can bring a blessing. This reveals one of the most structured dream scenarios I've ever had: MIRACLES AND DUETS.
It never feels good to hurt, however sometimes pain invites us to search for relief. This blog post reveals the blessing of an answer to pain which invited me to experience and share the relieving results: http://Pain Blessings When It Hertz!
Little did I know that there is a secret benefit to practicing gratitude, especially when it feels difficult to be thankful: Gratitude for Hard Times.
Whenever I encounter blessings, I strive to be grateful and observant. It always feels good to be counting blessings. I just never know when another one will birth itself right in front of my eyes!
