When you constantly compare yourself with others, you might recognize their strengths and successes and feel like you can never measure up. These feelings and mindsets could have begun in childhood. You may sense the need to withdraw from social situations to avoid dealing with these negative feelings, causing the inferiority complex.

Choose a middle ground and stay humble while acknowledging your abilities and inabilities in each situation. Include someone you trust to offer another perspective outside of your own.
- Pause and Pray: Find somewhere quiet where you can sit, breathe, consider your thoughts, and pray about each feeling you are having. Practice mindful, nonjudgmental thinking during these quiet moments. Inviting God to help you in prayer can bring a sense of value, hope, and acceptance.
- Stop Dwelling on Mistakes: Whenever you find yourself dealing with negative events or mistakes you may have made, choose to recognize this pattern and begin to focus on where you are now. This will help break the cycle of negative thinking.
