#NewComicsday and it's a great day to be a comic book enthusiast! Sponsored by All C's Collectibles, who has a few spaces for the Collectors Showcase coming in September contact the store for details. This week has been a lot lighter for titles from all of the publishers compared to the past few. It would be nice if they could spread it out a little bit more but plenty left to pick from before San Diego Comic Con in a couple of days. Ready, set, go, we've got five stacked high ready to fly!
Void Rivals #11> War in the wasteland.
Zertonian forces have caught up to Darak and Solila, but thankfully, they have a little Cybertronian help!
Springer to the rescue! (S) Robert Kirkman (A) Lorenzo De Felici
Smurfs Take> More Springer! More Darak & Solila! Romeo and Juliet on a galactic level with Transformers thrown in for good measure. I know that sounds like the simple version of what's really going on in this title and so many larger stories yet to be told. This is good….it's really really good.
Strange Academy: Blood Hunt #3> The kids have found the Darkhold and are ready to cast the spell to destroy ALL vampires. But they don't have the power to do so… Will DOCTOR DOOM help them?! (S) Daniel Older (A) Luigi Zagaria
Smurfs Take> Felt like forever since I had seen the kids on the shelf and so happy to see them back. This has to be the best way to tell the mystic side of Marvel stories, even better then Doctor Stranges own title. In addition to that the Blood Hunt summer event has been a big hit for me and a lot of readers as well when talking about it in the shop.
Star Wars Darth Vader #48> LUKE…JOINS THE DARK SIDE?! It is said there can be only two SITH, the EMPEROR AND DARTH VADER. But could it someday be PALPATINE and LUKE SKYWALKER? Or Vader and his son? THE HANDMAIDEN SABÉ finally tests Luke - with WARBA'S life in the balance! And THE SCHISM IMPERIAL reveals its hidden hand! (S) Greg Pak (A) Raffele Ienco
Smurfs Take> I have been eagerly awaiting this story, wondering if we would see Luke slide to the Dark Side and explore some stories that I always thought were left hanging. I know it's hard to do while staying within cannon but a lot of potential and ready to see where they take it.
Eternal Warriors Last Ride Immortals #1> When the sands of time shift, the Anni-Padda clan-led by the enigmatic Ivar-embark on a daring quest through history to mend the threads of fate. Joined by his siblings Aram, known as Armstrong, Gilad the Eternal Warrior, and the formidable Vexana, the War-Monger, they set their sights on the infamous OK Corral, a crucible of legend where Wyatt Earp and his cohorts once roamed. Prepare for a time-twisting adventure where heroes clash, destinies collide, and the fabric of reality hangs in the balance! (S) Fred Van Lente (A) Alvaro Papagiani (CA) Fernando Baldo
Smurfs Take> Step by step Valiant continues to bring back some great characters with fresh stories and this looks like no exception. It was great when the setting for Eternal Warrior was in a different time period, this looks amazing and it's not just because I'm on a western kick at the moment or that it deals with the OK Corral. I can see this as an instant classic!
Rook: Exodus #4> It's all-out war on the planet Exodus! The bear warden Ursaw wants complete control over the world, and he'll destroy anyone and anything in his path. Rook, Dire Wolf, and their newfound allies are the only remaining wardens left to stop him. The question is: What could Ursaw possibly want with a dying planet everyone else is trying to escape? (S) Geoff Johns (A) Jason Fabok, Brad Anderson
Smurfs Take> I have no idea where all of these titles are going but Rook has been a great read for me. Too soon to say if it's the best of the bunch but I have to say Johns has got an impressive story going with strong character types that are easy to love. Makes me miss his days on Green Lantern.
