On the ethics of, research, and the FACT is this: money can buy, EVERYTHING!!! Well, at least, they got caught, and if found guilty, they will both be fired from their, teaching posts in the university…off of the Newspapers, translated…
The incident of ethics of research came from the Kaohsiung Technical University, the Industrial Engineering and Management professor, Tang, and Wang was suspected of taking the bribes, to find the hired guns to write the theses and dissertations for the grad students, the D.A. charged both on accepting bribes going against the ethics of their careers, the two became the first who were charged with bribery in the matter of ethics of research. The investigations found, a total of four master students, one doctoral student who were, involved, the school stated, that if the verdicts for the two professors had been found true, they will get fired from the professorships, and listed as never-to-hire again.
The Department of Education stated, that the results of the investigations of the university will be sent to the various levels of evaluation committee.
The investigation found, the professors, Tang and Wang, used teaching the EMBA courses, hinted to the students that they could get the professors to write their theses and dissertations for them, then the two professors found the foreign students to write, and assisted the prospective students to pass the oral interviews to get their degrees.
The district attorneys office of Chiaotou was reported, and awhile ago, sent the investigators from the southern branches to investigate, five students and the two professors were listed as plaintiffs and interviewed, during the trial, the two professors admitted to what they did, and out on bail of $200,000N.T. and $100,000N.T., the rest of the students who were listed as defendants were interviewed, and placed on bail.
Based off of understanding, these students who'd earned the degrees, some didn't even know what topic was in their theses, how they'd managed to pass the exams, the school will clarify. The university stated, that if evidence of crime had been found evidentiary, then, the students will all get, expelled.
An unnamed scholar told, that EMBA was like the golden goose of the school, with the high tuitions, competitive enrollments, a lot of schools didn't DARE demand the students to write their graduation theses, or they won't have enough enrollment. Some schools, for the sake of enrollment, used the promotion of "shortest time in school to graduate". The professors giving an easy A, handing the students their degree had been what's been done since a long time ago.
And so, this is still, a matter of a vicious cycle, of how the students wanted an easy way to earn their degrees, so they started cutting corners, and bribing the professors for their easy pass, and the professors got caught, so did all the students who were involved in this, cheating way, and this puts that huge damper on the ethics of research, and gives higher ed a bad rep too!
