I have a workroom for quilting and blogging. Doc and I have desks that are pushed together in the center of the office. As I blog or sew, I can look over at him, and he at me! Much of my time quilting is spent with Doc at home during the evenings! So, here's the updated progress on my current quilt.
These lovely blocks are coming together nicely! Each one takes me at least a week of evenings to sew together. I give myself an attainable goal for each evening's sewing, like getting the first set of star points sewn together. Once that goal is reached, I usually stop and find a different type of recreation. (I like classic fiction, and I sometimes choose to watch favorite renditions of Jane Austen movies!) This method of sewing some each day means I don't get burned out on making tiny stitches along the edge of the English Paper Pieced shapes.
I'm thoroughly enjoying the colors in this quilt so far. The deep plums and purples, along with my favorite blues and aquas, and a healthy smattering of pink just make the quilt sing! I think this may be one of my very favorite quilts to date. I've made more than a hundred larger quilts in my time, so that's high praise for this one!
I would like to hand quilt this one. I haven't bought my batting or backing, although I probably have plenty of time! Maybe I can catch a larger piece of Liberty on remnant sale? It may take time, but I think I'm willing to commit to hand quilting for this particular quilt!
I hope you're having a wonderful August so far! This is usually a summer (aka hot) month here in the Southern United States. Our temperatures have gone down by about 5 degrees, so we're still finding ways to stay cool inside. I pray that you are cool enough or warm enough depending on where you live in the world!
