Personal Assistant Lucy arranges the garland in Ryanna's archway before Ryanna's autograph signing. Ryanna rips into the room and says she wants the orange flowers changed to red. Lucy had the red as a backup after Ryanna called to change the color in the middle of the night. Lucy gets Ryanna's usual coffee and the red flowers. After a successful signing, Ryanna hands Lucy a signed copy of her book and talks about her needs for tomorrow. Lucy cuts Ryanna off and reminds Ryanna that today is Lucy's last day. Ryanna praises Lucy before taking a call from her new assistant.
Lucy finds a note on her door from her neighbor, Gloria, inviting her to dinner. Gloria tells Lucy to have fun, work less, and find love. Lucy wants to focus on her new client, Prince Rupert. His business could launch Lucy's dream. Lucy wants to start a personal assistant company. And royalty will open her to new and prestigious clientele.
Lucy arrives at Rupert's home, but no one answers the front door. She finds a delivery person carrying a package through the side door and follows. Lucy walks around the house and knocks over a dessert tray. She kneels to clean and hears a man offering assistance behind her. Lucy talks about the prince being a stickler for cleanliness while passing him pieces of smashed cake. Then, it dawns on Lucy that she is speaking to Prince Rupert. Lucy stands up, adjusts her clothes, and gives a curtsey. Prince Rupert's courtier, James, points Lucy towards the bathroom so she can clean up.
Lucy sits for an interview with James, and Rupert enters the room to listen. James wants Lucy to maintain Rupert's schedule, throw the first annual masked ball, and help Rupert find a princess. It's customary for the prince to present his future bride his family's betrothal ring during the ball. James wants Lucy to help Rupert interview the candidates. Lucy laughs because interviews aren't romantic, and Rupert's charmed. Rupert hires Lucy, but James warns her she is on probation until the ball. Later, James tells Lucy not to fall for Rupert's charms or schemes. Lucy heeds his advice and prepares for Rupert. But is Rupert ready for her?
This movie has the model plot for a woman who meets a prince and falls in love. Its standouts are the princesses and the fairy godmother, Gloria. Princess Caroline is a spoiled brat who looks down on the staff, while Princess Isabella is a notorious penny pincher. Princess Ariella loves to sing, which is unfortunate for anyone in earshot. They bring the necessary comedy to this rom-com. Viewers will smile when Lucy stands up for herself after Rupert's ridiculous request. This revelation is stereotypically the movie's climax, but it's not for this film. It's the rising action that makes Rupert trusts Lucy. This picture is for fans of the Hallmark plot with a regal twist. And pay attention to the subplot because it's beautiful.
I give it 3 out of 5 stars
I fear you'd only make it worse - Prince Rupert
You may restore yourself in there - James
I know the difference a well-run life can make - Lucy
You made yourself memorable. That's what matters - Gloria
