Someone had once told Alexis that we are five times more attractive to ourselves than others.

As she stared into the mirror, she began to question if that was true. Alexis ran a hand over her face, examining her brown skin. It was decent enough but definitely not flawless. She pulled and pinched different areas of her body as she looked at herself in the mirror.

Maybe the curves that she had come to love were becoming unattractive to Brian. The image of that woman was burned into Alexis's memory.

Lindsey.

The word seemed dirty anytime she thought of it. Alexis had to admit that she was beautiful. She was slender and tall, while Alexis was short and curvaceous. Lindsey had perfect hair, teeth, and a dazzling smile to match. Alexis pinched her chubby cheeks and sighed.

It is easy to love yourself. That is until your flaws are pointed out by others. Alexis felt the dip in her confidence when she saw pictures of Lindsey. She thought it even more when she thought about all the things she and Brian could have done.

Could it have been her? Was she not sexy enough? Unadventurous? Was she not giving something to Brian that he desperately needed? Had Alexis been the driving force that led him into her arms?

There was a saying that Alexis's mom used to say. "Do everything you can for a man so that if he cheats, it won't be your fault." Susan was rather old-fashioned, to say the least.

Susan was born when everything was considered the woman's fault, especially the infidelity of her husband. People will always assume that he would not have strayed if his woman had done her job. Alexis was not a firm believer in this idea, and as she stood in the mirror, she had to remind herself of that.

Brian is a grown man, not a child. If his first response to a conflict in this marriage is to run to another woman, then that has to do with him, she thought. I am still the same beautiful woman I was a week ago. It is him that has the issue.

So why did she feel herself slipping in that thought?
