Hi there friends! Can you believe it's officially November? I definitely can't. I had so much fun putting this month's tea time activities together. I hope you find these suggestions helpful and you're able to incorporate them into your daily morning time or tea time. You can read all about our favorite books for this time of year HERE

Hymn

All Creatures of Our God and King | I've linked HERE the video from Sovereign Grace Music on YouTube

We will sing this song each day and I'll have the boys follow along with the music to work on memorizing the lyrics. If you'd like to dive deeper you can research when the song was written and the writer/composer.

Activities

  • Thanksgiving Tree | We do this each year for the month of November. I print out a picture of a tree. I've used this one from Steph Hathaway Designs HERE. We print it out I have the boys print their finger prints on the tree using different colored paint to make "leaves" Each day we write on one of the leaves something or someone we are thankful for.
  • Clothes Pin and Leaf Turkey Craft - How cute are these? All you need is some construction paper, glue, leaves [real or faux] Dipping real leaves in melted wax first will preserve them, and a clothes pin. These would make adorable place settings for Thanksgiving.
  • Homemade Simmer Pot | I love a good simmer pot especially this time of year. I like using oranges, apples, cloves, cinnamon sticks and rosemary in mine. Add everything into a pot filled with water and simmer low on your stove pot or in a crock pot.
  • Leaf Rubbing | An easy project. You can identify your leaves and label them and use crayons to rub them onto your paper.
  • Rolled Beeswax Candles | Fun all year long, but especially in autumn. I buy my kits on Etsy.

Science

I've included several ideas below for you to include this month into your tea time. I've linked the shop for the mini lessons HERE

  • Nature Walk | Scavenger Hunt
  • Leaf Sorting and Identification
  • Anatomy of a Pumpkin
  • Mini Lessons, BATS, OWLS, SPIDERS, WILD TURKEY STUDY
  • What Keeps an Apple from Browning Experiment | You'll need apple slices, small bowls or containers, vinegar, baking soda, milk, water, and lemon juice. Before doing the experiment talk about the scientific method. Ask them their hypothesis. Explain the chemical reaction that occurs and causes the apple flesh to brown. Tell them that some substances will keep an apple from browning. I found this experiment idea on this site HERE She had quote a few other experiments and activities using apples on that post as well.

Scripture

Colossians 3:17 | And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. | Spend a few minutes each day working on memorizing this verse.

Character Study

This month we will be focusing on Jonathan Edwards. I've included a short bio and a blank worksheet you can use for your own research if you choose. I've also included a coloring page with a quote from him. Character study is a great way to include history in your day as well. You can explore the time period the person lived, what was life like, where did they live. You can explore the geography of that place, customs, traditions, historical events etc.

Art Study

This month the boys and I will be looking at the piece Pilgrims Going to Church by George Henry Boughton. I've included information on the artist. A simple way to dive deeper is to explore other works by the artist. Look at other works within that style by other artists. Explore that time period more, create your own art piece using similar materials and mediums.

Recipe

Time to use up those pumpkins and their seeds. This month I've included a recipe for air fry pumpkin seeds as well as Gluten Free Pumpkin Squares with Cream Cheese Frosting. You could even use your pumpkins to make your own puree. If you don't have an air fryer this can also be done in the oven.

So glad you stopped by today, friends. You can print the Tea Time bundle HERE

Blessings,

Bree
