Hi read, How are you today? How's everything going? Want to make changes during the Great Realignment? (I'm calling it the Great Realignment since employees are realigning their work roles to better fit their lifestyle.) Whether you're an employee or entrepreneur, you can take advantage of this moment of change. Not sure where or how to get started? I've got 5 tips to get back in the game your way now. Before we start...Consider where you are in this process. Embrace what you need from this list and leave the other things out or engage the other ideas/tips at another time. OK, let's get started! Create a plan. Don't jump to action, even when you know you want to make changes. Create a plan and take intentional steps. Your plan will include your goals and general and specific steps so you stay organized and on task. More on this on the blog. The Mompowerment Know Your Why Guide will help here. Reply to this email with "I want it" if you want this helpful guide. No need to put in your email to get it. Set aside the time. If you want to get back into the game your way, it rarely just happens. In most cases, you must put in the work and make the effort. Set aside time for thinking and taking action. If you don't, your day will get filled with other stuff. And try to move things around so you can do this work when you're at your best, whatever time of day that is. Carve out that time. Ask for what you need. Get comfortable with asking for what you need, whether you stay with your current employer or clients or look for something new. Be strategic with your ask and create a win-win situation so you and your employer benefit from these changes. And don't forget to have a strategic conversation about changes at home as well. Look for clues about a new employer or client. Don't jump from the frying pan into the fire when it comes to changing employers or clients. To get an idea of workplace culture, look at an employer's website, social media, and even their senior leadership for clues. Talk to people within your network. I share more about what to look for in The Mompowerment Guide to Work-life Balance book and in my Harvard Business Review article. As an entrepreneur, your initial experience as you pitch a business will give you hints about working with a potential client. If they're consistently responding past midnight or on the weekend or wanting to have meetings at all hours, those could be red flags. Take a look at their consistent actions to understand how they treat their team and those who work with them. Take a step. Yes, you do want to be intentional with your steps. Don't worry if it's the perfect step, though, especially at first. Take action and get the ball rolling or nothing will change. Focus on progress, not perfection. Remember that you can always pivot later. You've got 5 tips to get back into the game your way during the Great Realignment. What are you looking for? What will you change? If you're struggling to make this all come together, consider a 1:1 strategy call with me to help you get going or get you going again if you feel stuck. Can't wait to see what you share! Suzanne PS I'd I'm considering setting up two Zoom calls for those who subscribe to the Mompowerment newsletter, one for employees and one for entrepreneurs. Reply back with I'm in and whichever one you are so I can get a general idea of interest. |
