Corruption, all the way, up towards the top of the chain of command here, this is really bad, with these heads doing bad things, and surely enough, their subordinates are all going to, follow, their, leads too! This is what happens, when the heads of these offices don't set a good example for their workers, off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
Four Officer had Been Taken into Custody, the Head of Precinct Given a Written Reprimand, the Head of the Local Office Pulled, the System of Internal Police Affairs are Now Taking All Who'd Been Involved into Questioning
Total of nine police officers from Hsinbei, Taoyuan, and Hsinchu had been found of suspicions of taking bribes, and written the slips to get the shops that's asked them to not ticket them, to waive the fines, the Hsinbei D.A.'s Office asked the courts to place the seven officers involved, the owners of the ships, as well as the individuals who were middlemen, a total of fourteen to be kept in police custody; other than three of the patrol officers who'd been allowed bail, the Hsinbei District Court signed off on the four other officers', and seven more individuals to be taken into custody.
Based off of understanding, in the interviews, the patrol officers pointed that it was the assistant manager of the police stations that's told them to look the other way, and they were paid the kickbacks later, and provided the communications on LINE as proof, the offices of police chief already interviewed the related personnel, and if the case is all the way up the chain of commands, it's still waiting to be investigated.
The Hsinbei Police Department yesterday quickly handed down the punishments, took the three police officers into custody, suspending them, with the three officers who were out on bail, waiting on the results of the investigation, to see if they're guilty of anything or not. The Shulin Substation where the bribes were taken, the former chief of station, the currently chief of the Sanchong Police Substation, Chen received two written reprimands; the currently head of substation, Chiao claimed he'd not known anything of the matter, after the investigations of whether he was actually involved, then, the punishments will be handed down accordingly. The police station manager of Sando demoted to patrol, the original police station manager of Shanjia Station, Hsiao, transferred to the Sando Station, the Xinyi Station manager, Chung of Banciao Police Substation, Chung transferred to work at the Gongliao office.
Based off of understanding, the investigation got started from the offices of investigations reviewing the records, listening on the officers' phone conversations, and the conversations of the officers using LINE, and the investigators found, that the entry level officers were ordered by their superiors to write out the false tickets, and for every car they'd let slide, they received the bribes of $50,000 N.T.s each, and in the end, the money got split among the officers and the individual operated who'd asked the police for the favors, and this had been going on for years to date.
The case started when the investigative bureau received a tip, that the renters due to the clients who'd rented the cars speeding, getting the tickets with the cars being on records of being unsafe, and to get the cars to continue getting rented, they'd connected to the patrol officers, to change the offense, so the rental agents can only pay the fines for the traffic violations to get the cars back, and the licenses too, to get the cars to "return to life again", to continue leasing them, to make a profit off of them.
Last year in August, the Hsinbei Police also found that the patrol officers written traffic tickets wasn't quite right, they'd notified the D.A.'s office to investigated by last October. The D.A.'s office found that the renters used the holes in the legal systems, through a middle man, bribed the police, to write the false tickets of "license plate registration or license plate not hung correctly on the car". Currently, they'd found thousands of these bad tickets total, and one officer had been found to ticket a total of hundreds of these false tickets, and they're still trying to calculate the total amounts of these tickets right now.
The dark money squad from the Hsinbei D.A.'s Office directed the investigations on the twentieth to search, after the interrogations, fourteen officers were taken into custody; of the seven patrol officers, the courts mandated that a total of eleven involved members of the police personnel, in protective custody; the other three officers out on bail in anywhere between $50,000N.T. to $100,000N.T.s.
And, this is how easily these cops go to the bad side, because they can't withstand the temptations of money, and maybe, they didn't think they would get caught, that's why, they took the bribes, to start writing the phony tickets, to reduce the fines that are needed to get paid, so the operators can continue to lease out these cars with priors out, to continue to make more money, and all of these officers were all tempted by money, and look where it'd gotten them, in prison, and their statuses in the police stations, taken away, and for what? Some measly dollars and cents, so totally not worth it!
