God's Calling Is Never Terrifying
We live in a fallen world; the forces of evil have no power over us because they were defeated at the Cross.
Satan goes around like a roaring lion to see who he can devour, but the truth of the matter is we are covered by the blood of the lamb, the victory Our Lord Our Redeemer and Our Friend won on the cross for any whosoever. John 3 Verse 16.
We have a choice to accept and live in the freedom Our Lord and Our Friend purchased on the cross for us, or we can live in fear spread by the fallen world around us.
Let's look at a story from the Bible. Judges Chapter 4 and 5: The leader of God's people at the time of Judges was Deborah. Deborah used to sit under Particular palm tree, so everyone knew where to come for advice.
One day Deborah sent for a man named Barak and told him he was to get an army together to fight against an army led by Sisera from a North country. Barak would have heard this army was equipped with iron chariots.
Barak was terrified at the thought of facing Sisera's army. Barak said he would only go if Deborah went with him.
Barak invited the tribes living nearby to band together to volunteer to fight. Barak lined up the men on the top of a hill where the enemy chariots would find it hard to move.
Deborah gave the command to Barak to tell the men to move forward down the hill almost to certain death. At that moment the rain began to fall, so instead of chasing and overtaking Barak men, Sisera men were trapped in their chariots at the mercy of Barak marching army.
Sisera army left their chariots and fled on foot and were defeated.
Fear in the face of evil was overcome by listening to Gods' word in the situation. Even more now we have the Victory over any evil through The Cross
So, God's calling is never terrifying if we have accepted what Our Lord an Our Friend has done for us.
God Bless
