There's a hashtag over on Instagram that's called "get your quilty wishes granted". Every year, about this time, the host starts making posts about it, and it catches on quickly! The goal is to grant some wishes, and then put your own wish out there to the quilting community and see what happens. In the past, I've asked for things that were harder to find, or that were just hard for me to get, like longarming a quilt that was a special gift. This year, I granted five wishes, but my wish was granted in double that amount! I asked for squares of red and green fabric. My Christmas quilt that I'm making is kinda blah, and I needed some scrappiness to make it better! I've already received some squares, and I'm excited to get the mail for the next week or so!
Here's what I sent out over the weekend. This swap of sorts is rather fun, because the person granting your wish may not be the person whose wish you grant. It's a swap around! I sent out linen scraps, liberty scraps, orphan blocks, strawberry fabric, and a bit of cotton and steel fabric. From other people, I'll receive some Christmas quilt makings! It sort of kicks off the holiday season, which is fun!
I hope I've convinced you to be a part of "get your quilty wishes granted". Wishes can be complicated or as simple as you like, and granting other people's wishes is the most fun part! It really is better to give than to receive!
Happy Christmas sewing!
Stacy
