Inflation is high. Consumers need to push back. Streaming services will charge consumers more for instant gratification. My husband and I always watch the FBIs on Paramount Plus. The shows season began last night. If you want to see the FBIs on the airing night, consumers need to pay for Showtime at 11.99 per month. If you wait until the next day, it is included with your monthly Paramount plus.
I refuse to pay more for something we already pay for. We can get NBC and ABC and 10 other stations on the antenna. Amazon is charging you additional fee of 2.99 to watch Amazon Prime video without commercials. Prime customers already pay over 125 a year for prime perks.
Our local newspaper raised their rates. We used to get online viewing for free. They are now charging an additional 15 dollars to have online access. I cancelled our subscription today. We were up for renewal. My hometown paper has increased their fees for online access, I refuse to pay it.
I loved subscription boxes however; prices have gone up as much as 22% and they are giving 35% less. I cancelled my subscription boxes.
Plastic bags are banned in my state. The stores have brought back paper bags for 20 cents each. I am not willing to pay for bags. I have plenty of reusable bags and totes to use when we shop.
Protest by writing letters when unfair charges occur, not purchasing items when the set point of products are too high, you do not purchase that product.
Our local eatery is overcharging when you walk in for a meal. I refuse to pay 20 dollars before I even sit down. I get it, times are tough, however, we tip really well. I asked the owner as we were leaving why she has put this new charge on checks. She told us that many people do not tip and business is slow. This used to be one of our favorite date spots. We went there for an early dinner tonight. We sat down to a sticky table, I stained my new dress on a sticky chair, and then I see the little note on the drink menu about a 20 surcharge for all parties. I looked over at the dinner being served and the woman complaining to her husband. I noticed that the poorly cooked portions are considerably smaller, not that they were serving large portions to be begin with. We ended up not staying for dinner. The vibe was off. Patrons didn't look happy, the staff looked unkempt.
It was a bit disappointing not to have dinner out, however, an overpriced, lousy dinner with a mandatory tip is worse. We ended up pulling steaks out of the freezer, baking potatoes, and spinach salads. The kids were at a Valentine's pizza party with our church.
