Check to see if there are any stream services or trial offers you are still signed up for. Sunday, I immediately canceled You Tube TV. We would have been billed for another month in a few days. We do not need Youtube tv now football is over.
Are you still buying laundry soap? We have been making laundry soap for the last 5 years. We spend 20 dollars a year on homemade detergent. If you can't make detergent you like, try using less.
Hanging laundry saves us about 250 dollars a year. I have lines and racks in the laundry room. I have an outside lines that we use Spring through Fall.
Look at your basic bills. What can you reduce? Groceries and cleaning supplies, entertianment to name a few.
Buy store brands you can save 25 %.
This one may be a hassle, but don't leave your credit card saved on shopping sites. Often, times, if you have to be troubled to take out the credit card, you won't buy the item.
Use Sams Club if you can afford the subscription and use it.
If you want better gas mileage buy low resistance tires. They can save you 4 to 11 percent on fuel costs.'
Sell your car privately.
Learn to change your oil yourself.
Keep your car interior clean. That was a selling point on our last car sale. Every car I have owned, I have vacuumed and kept the entire interior immaculate. We received several thousand more for that car.
If you get bumped in the grocery store parking lot, you can pull a dent out with a plunger and touch up the paint yourself. I knocked the mirror off my car and fixed it myself. The cost of the part was 50 dollars from the "junkyard."
Taking care of yourself starts with getting enough sleep, drinking water, eating properly for your body type. You will save money on your health and live a better life.
When I worked in social services, I often heard the complaints that their kids never cleaned their rooms, never respected the car, the house, etc. Things were constantly broken and destroyed. The homemaker becomes the energy of the home by taking pride in the home. If you want your family to take care of things, you take care of them first. The pity me attitude is going to make you feel better about things. The first thing is deep clean. The furniture isn't great. Make slipcovers, paint etc. Homemakers who wash, mend, repurpose things in the home will find they will save money because things last.
Shopping every 10-14 days will save you money and fuel, especially if you live in rural area. Prior to moving out West, i lived in large town where I could walk to the library, several large stores, salon, gym, the doctor, and school within 6 minutes. I, now, I have to travel 20- to 100 miles for most pf these things.
Inflation is high across America. We travel a lot on the East and West coast. The South was the highest. One needs to do the best they can in these areas. It is difficult when you have children. Children need things. It is important to know what resources that are available in your area. Even then, many families earn just a bit over to qualify. Facebook Marketplace, the local paper, and Craigslist can be great ways to fill in the holes in your budget. Many people offer free or low cost sporting equipment, books clothing etc.
Time spent with family and friends is one of the best things we can all do duirng these times of political conflict, inflation, and general unrest. I cannot bear to watch the Israel war or Ukraine, I read the Washington Post every morning. I think it unhealthy for families to watch the news over and over. Taking walks together, watching hopeful movies, reading good books, and playing board games. I am not saying putting your head in the sand, but cutting down the dreadful noise. Family time costs very little, but is priceless.
