One, life goes on. One day, critics do not like something you wrote and the next, they're curious about the next thing you're working on. God bless curiosity, and my own over productivity. Two, you can spend hours getting your hair and make-up done and obsessing over what to wear for a picture, like how to look like you desperately don't care, while deeply caring, but then the photographer (cred: Daniel Dorsa) will see a cool patch of light on your kitchen floor and tell you to lay inside of it, and in spite of all of your obsessing, that will be the picture that will be used, because all of this being written about you, the reviews, the articles, are not really you, but they are just a part of a larger conversation that hasn't nothing to do with actual you, or your insecurities, or your heart. You're just a lady, lying on her kitchen floor, with ideas that relate to a larger collective thought. So Just lay there in the light, give in, and be a part of it. While you're down there, check the corners for dust. | | | |
