DDP, is still, ALL talk and, NO action, proclaiming on how they're going to, COMBAT the scams, but we'd gotten calls of these, scam artists, regularly, at home on the landlines, or on our, cell phones too, so, WHO the FUCK leaked out our, personal, data again? The telecommunications companies, and WHO controls the operations of these, major, cellphone service, and landline, providers??? Oh yeah, it's, OUR, government!!! Off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
With the, advancements in technological developments start flourishing, the scam rings keep on coming up with new ways of scamming the public, and we can't, even, combat all the means. The lesser victims, only lost money, the major ones, lost all of their, lives', savings, to the point of, losing their, lives as well.
From the earlier days of scammers on the streets in Taiwan, it'd evolved into the international professional scam organizations, all the way, not only are the people of this country impacted, it'd also, brought shame to the country internationally too. The means of crimes committed by these scam rings are, inhumane, and, as the cases were found out, it's next to impossible to investigate the leads, and arrest all the, perpetrators, the lawlessness of these rings already, caused a ton of trials in the people's lives in Taiwan. It's a wonder, that a lot of the newly elected officials swore that their first missions after getting elected is to, combat the, scams, but, the four major means of "recognizing, blocking, preventing, and punishing" the scams, are all in theory, and, as these means are put into, actions, will it actually be, effective enough, to combat the, scammers, we are not, holding our, breaths.
In the past year, the government came up with, an assortment of means to try and combat the scams, there's the "New Age Scam Tactics Outline 1.5" that's set in, with the added extra of "Five Means of Combatting the Scams", there's the most recent, "Four New Regulations of Combatting Scams" that came out, hoping that the quickness of these laws was enough, to keep the scammers unable to react. I'll pose a tiny example, to just, show how lacking this theory is, as it got implemented.
"Tens of Thousands of Suspects in Scams Receiving Only Lighter Sentences", is Taiwan a "Safe Haven for Scam Artists"? this reads...photo from online
My friend recently ordered a shipment from a notable internet business website, "pay on delivery", several days later, he'd received the retrieval at the super convenience shops notice, and went to get it. And yet, as he'd, opened the package, it wasn't what he'd, ordered, and the simplified Chinese label of the second-grade products, confused him, and that was when he'd realized, that he may have been, SCAMMED.
And my friend turned to the store clerk, and asked how he could, return the package and get his money back, the clerk had him get in touch with the shipping agent himself. And yet, the website of the shipping company only showed that it wasn't responsible if the delivery wasn't what the consumers supposed they were, the disclaimer notice, along with the column for the victims' personal data, and bank account information. I'd had my friend to go and file a complaint to the super convenience shop's "Scam Complaint Platform", to NEVER, post his own personal data, his bank account information on the, untrustworthy websites, that in the future, to NEVER, operate the ATMs or the bank tellers' counters in the, future. But unfortunately, the platform of filing a complaint at the super convenience shop wasn't set up properly, the way they'd handled it was, having my friend log into the shipping delivery firm site, leading my friend's complaints back to, where he'd, started from.
Logging online, to check the records, and the shipping company had more than its share of, bad, reputations, there'd been, countless recipients of its "ghost packages" that were used, to SCAM the victims for money. Recently online, there was, also a cashier from a super convenience store that posted the dozen major scamming shipping agencies.
So, let's review to the concrete results of the "Scam Prevention Outline 1.5" that's been posted on May 17th, of these included, "setting up the full refund system of purchasing for the consumers: from June to December of 2023, there'd been a total of 88,724 packages returned, with the total amount of $153,380,321N.T.s", it seemed, quite, fruitful, doesn't it? And yet, these, falsely delivered packages are still, all over the, places, and the innocent citizens keep on getting, scammed for them.
What we need is the government officials, dressed in plain clothes, to sample the packages, to have the customer service representative of the government agencies to help the consumers file a complaint on these, scamming packages online, to call up the anti-scam hotline 165, at the same time, to accompany these consumers to their local police stations to report the cases, to see HOW it is that the problems of reporting the scams is being, handled by law enforcement agencies.
the newly proposed FIVE rules, by the Executive Department, does it work??? Of course N-O-T!!! As the scam rings are sprouting up everywhere like WEEDS after a rain! Image from online
And, as the government get a better understanding of the helplessness of the people who got scammed, then, the officials may finally, understand WHY it is, that "those who scammed, are scamming like crazy, the scamming, can't be caught, and, the scammers had already, spent all the money they'd managed to scam from the people, to nothing already."
So, once again, the DDP's proposals to tackle these, scams are, still, perfect in THEORY, but not in, the application phases, and what's worse is that there's NO platform, to file our complaints if we ever get, scammed, or that they'll put the victims through to the government customer service agent, and you will hear that elevator music, followed by, "please hold, we'll be with you in just a few more moments", or that you get, routed, rerouted, transferred, retransferred, again, again, and again, that, is what the DDP government called, EFFICACY in combating the scams that are sprouting up, all over this, island right now.
