Last couple of weeks, I stopped meal planning and winged it from time to time. I have found that taking 15 minutes to plan the dinner meals saves me time, I am more creative and saves money. There is less food waste with meal planning, Back to meal planning on Monday.
We have had a weird couple of weeks with the tenant leaving the rental. Other annoying things. I am unsure how I feel about Walmart hiring drivers to deliver orders off the website. I ordered a phone this week and it was delivered by Fed -Ex. I was assured they would send another phone which was a better model, so that was a win. Our kids called me to tell me that there was a strange car hanging out by the gate. My neighbor sent me a text with a photo of the car. The car interrupted our mail delivery. I instructed our teens to go over to our neighbors through the side gate and wait.
I was 15 minutes from the house. The car was gone when I got home. The car came back an hour after we got home. It was Walmart. I signed for my package. The whole thing was weird. I chatted with Walmart customer service about the weird interaction. The package wasn't due to arrive until Tuesday. They agreed that this was not the way the delivery drivers expected to act.
Today was a baking day. I baked the week's sweets. I made another batch of goat cheese. I flavored some of this with maple and cranberries.
Ace Hardware had bedding plants and vegetables for 25 cents. I purchased what we needed to fill in areas that were wrecked by the neighborhood dog: Savingswas 200 hundred. This was a major savings combined with the monthly 10 dollar coupon.
Kindle Unlimited and Audible offered me a 3-month free trial for a savings of 33.00 for the Kindle Unlimited and 45 dollars for Audible. I will immediately cancel 7 days before the end of the trials
I received a 512 gb thumb drive for a survey raffle. Savings 46.00 I needed a high- capacity thumb drive for my photos.
Knowing the best deals at your stores in the area. I went to the independent grocery and purchased 2 bags of their 10-dollar produce bags. You can fill a grocery bag with peppers, fruits, etc. I would have spent a great deal more on produce this week if I had gone to CityMarket.
Meat costs for the month totaled 75 dollars. Safeway does a lot of buy one get one. We ended up with ham, sausage, chicken, beef, and pork. Our meat freezer will be filled in August after we send the pigs and meat chickens for processing and buy 1/2 a cow. The family's meat consumption went up 15 % this year. Our cost per pound of meats I cook is running between 1.29 and 1.58 per pound for clean meats.
