Amish Affair - Review
Amish Affair - Lifetime - 2 hours and 0 minutes
Hannah finds Aaron waiting for her at the train station. He takes her in his horse and buggy to his home that he shares with his wife, Sarah, and daughters, Rachel and Grace. Hannah inquires if the congregation knows about her sorted past. Aaron assures Hannah that only he and Sarah know about a patient dying in her care. While the police cleared Hannah, her Amish community didn't. Aaron promises Hannah a fresh start in their town. Then, Hannah asks about Sarah's illness. Aaron believes Sarah has ALS, but she refuses to see a doctor or take modern medicine. Hannah eats dinner and settles in for the night. She will take over Sarah's household duties while caring for Sarah.
Hannah is working in the barn when Aaron approaches her. She rejects his advances earlier but gives in to temptation. However, Hannah stops the affair after watching the tribunal shun Miriam for tempting a married man. Hannah believes it's wrong to have an affair with Aaron while Sarah is alive. Hannah focuses on caring for the family and Sarah's medical needs. Soon, Hannah meets two of Aaron's employees, Jacob and Laura. Laura keeps a watchful eye on Hannah while Jacob's are lustful. He asks Hannah out on a date, infuriating Aaron. Aaron tells Jacob about Hannah's past to coerce Jacob to break up with Hannah. To Aaron's surprise, Hannah still won't date Aaron while Sarah is alive. Days later, Sarah dies, and Aaron turns to Hannah for comfort. The police investigate after hearing about Hannah's past. When gossip spreads around the small community, Hannah must discover the truth or lose her freedom.
Inspired by actual events, this movie slowly entices viewers into a sexy murder plot. While the audience knows the killer, you will be unsure when the crime started. Aaron says Sarah had ALS, but Sarah never saw a doctor. Sarah and Aaron's stories differ when they converse about rejecting English care. She says they made the choice, but Aaron says Sarah insisted. Aaron uses Hannah's fears to push her into a relationship with him. And her community solidifies her concerns by shunning Mariam. Hannah knows she will take the blame and the punishment for Aaron's poor behavior. So, she lies to protect him while Aaron manipulates her. While the conclusion gives the characters a happy ending, it's obvious the community's mindset doesn't change about who they punish. This film will whet your appetite.
I give it 4 out of 5 stars

Little Girl in the Window - Review
Paul returns home to find his wife, Iris, on the couch watching an unsolved crime show about a missing girl named Jennifer. Paul mentions that Iris is wearing the same thing she was this morning, and she gets defensive. She suffers from depression after a miscarriage. Paul wants to try again, but Iris avoids the subject. Paul gives Iris a professional camera to help Iris engage with the world. Iris did amateur photography in the past but gave it up to become an architect.
Iris leaves her home for the first time in months and takes pictures of homes around town. She stumbles across a house but notices strange writing on the window. Iris snaps a few photos until a barking dog frightens her. Mrs. Norris chastises the pup and introduces herself. She tells Iris that the home belongs to Robert. They converse, and Iris leaves.
Iris examines the photos and sees the writing on the window spelled HELP backward. Paul thinks it's a prank, but Iris can't ignore it. She goes to Robert's home, and he catches Iris standing outside. As Robert extends his hand to greet Iris, Iris sees a little girl in the window and yelps. Iris gives Robert a fake name, leaves, and runs to search for images of missing girls. Iris finds a girl, Dana, who looks similar to the one in the window. Iris takes her concerns to Detective Clark. Clark thinks Iris is mistaken but goes to Robert's home. Clark asks about the little girl, and Robert grabs a large doll. During their conversation, Clark gets a call about Dana. The police located her. Clark says goodbye and contacts Iris. He threatens to file a police report against Iris if she makes false allegations again.
Iris doesn't accept Detective Clark's excuse and travels to Robert's home again. She sternly asks to see the doll, and Robert invites Iris inside. At first, Iris says no but changes her mind. Then, Iris hears a scream come from the basement. She tries to run, but Robert grabs her. Iris wakes up in a basement, chained to the floor. She sees two women chained at opposite ends of the room. Carol has been there longer and warns Iris to follow Robert's rules. Robert took Jennifer a year after Carol, and the girl Iris saw is Jennifer's daughter May. Iris remembers Jennifer's name. Jenniffer is the girl from the unsolved crime show. Iris vows to escape, but how?
This movie will have you questioning reality for the first hour. You won't be sure if Iris is seeing things or not. The message in the window disappears, Robert explains away the girl in the window, and Mrs. Norris doesn't see anything. It's easy to deduce that Iris is dealing with trauma from losing her child. There are two things viewers should notice. First, Robert screams a warning into a so-called empty house. That's clue number one. And the final hint, Robert grabs Iris. After that moment, it becomes the standard Lifetime escape film. Viewers will scream at Iris's mistakes, Paul's easy-going attitude, and Detective Clark's existence.
I give it 3.5 out of 5 stars
You do, but I don't - Paul
There's something wrong with me - Iris

Falling Like Snowflakes - Review
Photographer Teagan meets with her friend, gallery owner Charlotte, to discuss the Christmas Auction at Winslow Gallery. Teagan hopes her snowflake images will garner enough money to fix some of the Willow Creek Community Center's repairs. Teagan prays for a Christmas miracle and drives to the center to meet her students. After class, Teagan sees Julie standing alone. Julie knows her father, Noah, will come, but he is plowing the recent snowfall. Teagan offers to drive Julie to Noah's plow garage to help. Teagan and Noah stammer at the other's appearance, and Julie notices. She asks about their history, and they explain they are old friends. Noah and Julie leave for home.
Charlotte asks Teagan to come to the gallery as soon as possible. Calvin, an art collector and hotel owner, is interested in Teagan's photographs. Teagan runs to meet him, and he can't contain his excitement. However, Calvin knows there are 35 types of snowflakes but sees 34 images. He wants a complete collection. Teagan tried for two years to get a picture of the 12-sided stellar dendrites, but the weather conditions were wrong. Calvin offers to buy the collection if she gets the last one. Calvin's purchase will cover the center's repairs and make this show the most successful. Teagan agrees to try. After Teagan leaves, photographer Susan overhears the snowflake conversation. She's wanted her images in the gallery for years. Susan decides to find the snowflake first to get in the show.
Teagan sees Noah in the town square and questions him about the weather. However, her questions aren't traditional because she knows Noah went to school for atmospheric science. Noah openly wonders about her interrogation, and Teagan admits this impending storm is the perfect condition for her missing snowflake. She plans on going into the eye of the storm to find it. This storm will be dangerous, so Noah insists on going in his snow plow. This pair will hunt for a mysterious snowflake, but will they find something more before Susan beats them to the Christmas Auction?
This movie has interesting facts about the weather and snowflakes, but the film won't need your full attention. Its saving grace is Susan's trickery. She will stop at nothing to get the photo. Susan converses with Calvin, Charlotte, and Julie to discover Teagan's methods and tools. She feels like a Disney villain. You will love to hate her. And her character has more growth than others. Also, Julie's gift for Noah is incredible, and the reveal will make you misty-eyed. The plot is predictable and shows why Hallmark saved this film for July.
I give it 3 out of 5 stars
Why are you guys acting so weird - Julie
No, it wasn't fun. I broke my arm - Noah
Well, can it be both - Teagan
It's much too cold to be out there - Charlotte
