The garden has been left largely unsupervised during the last two weeks' heat wave, so it was with a certain amount of trepidation that I ventured out today to see what it had been up to.
The Suyo Long cucumbers are producing like crazy!
I brought in a half dozen that were under a foot long, but this beast was a treat for the steers.
They were more than happy to oblige.
The Suyo has pricklies on its skin, but they rub off easily on your jeans or a washcloth. I find their flavor to be superior in salads! Baker Creek has the seeds here.
The zucchini also took advantage of my inattentiveness. The cows were happy to dispose of all the round ones, and the first big batch of long ones has been gathered indoors.
Lock your cars, people. There's plenty of summer left.
