These things have a deeper, everlasting, effect on the societies, and as voters and consumers, we must, stay smart and educate ourselves, so we can tell the difference between what's fake and what's real! The trends of A.I., used for EVIL…off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
Infringing Privacy and Dignity, Can Also Interfere with the Voters' Views of the Candidates and Affect the Outcomes of the Elections
In the past, building a DeepFake image required a ton of skill and a lot of, time. And now, anyone can, spend only a few short seconds, using the A.I. tools, to make the images that are believable. And the ease of use had caused the DeepFake sex images to explode in volumes, studies showed, since 2019, there's a 550-percent growth in the video or sound files using DeepFake, and most of these were of real people, of the women without their clothes on.
The damages these images caused, goes beyond the invasion of privacy and the dignity of the victims, it can cause the victims severe psychological traumas, damaged of reputation, to even causing life-threatening danger. There was an eighteen-year-old girl who had been beheaded by her father and her uncle in Pakistan, reason being that her photo with a man that was photoshopped went viral online. And this tragedy showed, the adverse response this sort of contents have on the conversative societies.
Recently, the global surveillance commissions of Meta ruled over two cases of American and India actresses' A.I. nude photos, showed the challenges that the social media platforms are facing in combating this sort of contents. Although the commissions ruled that these photos needed to be deleted off the internet, but in the investigation, although the laws had enforced the policies, but in the enforcing of the laws, and testing, there are the huge loopholes, including the judgments to tell if the images are real, for instance, what would be the criteria that guides the standards of pornography.
Compared to Meta's policy of reviewing the contents being outsourced to the external commissions, X in combating DeepFake, the owner led in streaming the videos live. At the end of July after Biden announced his dropping out of the races, Musk forwarded a video on the vice president, Harris, but didn't disclose that the video had been altered. The video used Harris's voice, but didn't use the words in her original video, instead, the video said using her mouth, that President Biden is too old, that she had no clue how to run a country, and that being a woman and a person of color, reason why she has her job was because of the policies of non-discriminatory employment. Currently, there were more than 130 million hits of this video already, and it's still streaming on the platform, and this video had breached the policy of X. The policy of X stated, "prohibiting the media contents that may be untrue, or confusing the viewers." Although there were the posts on X that questioned it, but Musk remained silent on the matter to this very day.
There's need for a ton of work in combatting the DeepFake technology. The platforms need to invest in the advanced testing tools, at the same time, to ensure the procedures of handling of the more complex cases. The policy setters of the country need to set up sturdy frameworks in law, to protect the personal and public figures from being exploited in this form. At the same time, helping the public tell the difference between what's real and what's not, to educate the public on the matter. And we also must know, that the core of the problem is not the technology itself, but also, a challenge to human dignity, reputation. As we're, embracing the new opportunities brought on by A.I., we also need to be aware, of how A.I. may be used to infringe human rights, and contort the truths. The key battlefield in the digital age, protecting human rights is to prevent the individual rights from being infringed by A.I. technologies.
And so, this is how A.I. is used for EVIL, and that's just it, technologies aren't good or bad, it's how we use it that made it good or bad, and, there is the need, to have the laws, to protect the people from these sorts of things, after all, these things can affect a country's future, like influence the outcomes of a country's election, and the politicians can easily use these technologies, to spread the lies about their opponents, and we the people can't tell if it's real or fake, and we end up, voting for someone too corrupt, and the whole country goes down.
