The littlest one has been reluctant to write. Didn't want to learn her name, or numbers, or even draw pictures. She's only 4 and I'm all about not rushing kids so about a month ago I backed off and gave her alternative activities when the older two (both 6) were doing their penmanship. I do try to make a point that she is much younger than them and I don't expect her to do the same work, e.g. in math.

Then, suddenly tonight when her older brother was writing she picked up a pencil and formed these beautiful letters as I dictated to her the word she wanted to write. I was so amazed! She was so proud!

A lovely moment brought to us through the freedom of homeschooling. I have flexed the pace of instruction for my kids so many times so far this year and I love the freedom to do so. They are thriving. Fully focused for 2 hours each morning learning lots and lots. Today we did a review of all the poetry we've memorized. So sweet to see the payoff.

Also, a small moment of accomplishment for me: at one point I was typing something while simultaneously giving letter-by-letter dictation to two different kids each writing a different word. I'm a multi-tasking mama!
