Hello Everyone!
Where were you when you heard that Queen Elizabeth II passed away?
That is a question many people will ask an answer for generations to come.
This morning, I woke up to the news that the Queen was under medical supervision. I had a feeling that she would probably pass in the near future as she was 96 years old.
Within a couple of hours the news had come that she had passed.
Being 8 hours behind the UK, living on the West Coast of the US, it was still morning for me when the news came.
Why would an American be so interested in what is going on in the UK, you may ask? Well, at one point in my life, I wanted to go live in Scotland, so I started paying more attention to their news as well. Every year, watching the Queen's birthday parade, and Christmas Message, keeping up with who the Prime Minister is (Liz Truss as of two days ago), and following the Scottish Indy Referendum back in 2014, and so much more.
While this doesn't directly effect me, being an American, for roughly 1/3 of the world's population, their head of state, reigning monarch, is gone, and their world changed today, or yesterday by now across the Atlantic.
Those who can remember a previous reigning British Monarch, are fewer and fewer each year. For some of us, including many in my parents generation, there has only been one British Monarch during our entire lives.
This is just one more day, that I and billions of other people experienced history happening.
