Looking at the Sermon on the Mount.
It is significant that after Jesus called His twelve apostles, and before He preached the Sermon of the Mount, He took time to heal many needy people. This was a demonstration of both His Power and Compassion. It was also a reminder to His newly appointed assistants that their job was to share His Love and Power with the needy world.
It is estimated that there were 3 million people in the word in Jesus' day, while there are over 5 billion today, what a challenge to believers now.
It is a sermon and not the 'Gospel' and nobody goes to heaven by following 'the Sermon on Mount'.
People dead in their sins cannot obey the Living God; they must first be 'born again 'and receive Our Lord and Our Friends life.
John 3 Verse 36: "The one who believes in The Son has eternal life, but the one who refuses to believe in The Son will not see life, instead the wrath of God remains on him {or her}."
Nor is the Sermon on the Mount a 'constitution' for the Kingdom God.
The Sermon of the Mount applies to life today and describes the kind of character we should have as believers in the world.
When We ask Christ Jesus to be Our Lord, Our Savior and Friend, we take on His character and die to self and live for Him in a lost world.
God Bless
