This past week, I've had sourdough adventures to share with you all! There was an almost fail and a definite win, so it was a mixed bag!
First, I made sourdough rolls to go with spaghetti. I knew something was off when they didn't rise quite as much as I was hoping. In fact, they were dense and not fluffy. There could have been several contributing factors, so we ate them anyway, and called it an almost fail. They were edible, and Doc had two! I had hoped for fluffy rolls though......
The second adventure with sourdough came over the weekend, when I wanted to make sourdough pancakes. The recipe uses two full cups of starter, so I felt like this one would turn out better! It did! With very little fuss, I made up a stack of pancakes that were delicious with maple syrup. They were fluffy for pancakes and needed no rising time. I'm excited to make them again for my family!
Sourdough is a little like a science experiment. There are variables in and out of the chef's control, and I'm enjoying the random factor! I will definitely try the rolls again, simply because the recipe gets rave reviews. I'll switch up the method for proofing, and probably watch a YouTube on them before I attempt them again! I'm pretty excited to have one win with the pancakes, so it's worth doing!
I hope you're having a good Monday! Happy President's Day!
Stacy
