If this is your day for rest, like us all you still need encouragement. Be encouraged today by this wonderful verse from 1 Corinthians 10 Verse 6:
I Corinthians 10 Verse 6: "Now these things became example for us, so that we will not desire evil as they did".
Reading,1 Corinthians 10 verse 1 to 22:
Through life we most likely get many warnings, warnings that bring to notice dangers, troubles in life and warning about things that are really no good for us.
To warn: means to inform in advance, especially of unpleasant. consequences.
Sin {wrong-doing against God} has consequences, We can not blame God for the consequences, when he has told us there are things that are not good for us to partake of, or participate in.
God never delights in sin, but He does delight in forgiving genuine repentance. John 3 verse 16 to 18.
Romans 6 verse 23; Even though God deals with the wages of sin, He often leaves us to face the consequences of sin.
In Lamentations 1 verse 9: The people of Judah failed to think through the consequences of their choices. For generations they ignored the Law's warning against idolatry, oppressing the poor, cheating in business, relying on others for their security and not trusting God and His Word.
The bigger trouble they had was, they were maintaining a presence of worshiping the Lord and keeping up temple rituals, but the reality was that they had turned their backs on God.
We could say people's habits have changed, we are good at keeping up appearances, but for a lot of people, their motives would not want to be exposed. We can not fool God. Genuine repentance brings, genuine satisfaction, which would lead us, into not wanting to do the things God has told us is bad for us.
We are all sinners saved by Grace, and even though by accepting Our Lord and Our Friend, we have been set free from the power of sin, we still can partake.
Fresh examination of our own lives, might reveal things that are clouding our walk with Him. what warnings and the consequences of those warnings are we ignoring. 1 Corinthians 10 verse 23 and 24:
V23: "Everything is permissible, but not everything is helpful. 'Everything is permissible', but not everything builds up".
V24: No one should seek his own good, but the good of the other person".
Hebrews 4 verse 16: Let us all partake of regular visits to the Throne of Grace, so we can find help in time of need.
