Happy Monday! This week I'm working to finally finish my spring cleaning list that I started in April! I have a checklist available to print that I use each spring and fall to clean the home. You may or may not need some of the categories, but it's a good benchmark for me in most rooms!
I don't necessarily enjoy cleaning, although I doubt many of us do. However, I love a clean home and I love to serve the Lord and my family! So I set aside time to clean each room in detail at least twice a year, if not more often. Some days, I see the need and just work to complete a room. My goal in the next year is to clean more often and more thoroughly, and to set aside time to do it well.
Mondays are my deep clean days. I tend to deep clean the main floor of the home then, and work to make sure the kitchen is functioning fully and cleanly. Things get put haphazardly over the weekend, and I like setting it to right on Mondays. If I'm honest, the part that appeals to me most is the organization of our things. I enjoy putting things back in place when they're in disarray!
I try to reserve part of Mondays for whatever home chore needs doing at the time. Half of my problem is that I'm used to cleaning much smaller houses than I currently have, and I'm not as spry as I was at 20. In my head, the cleaning of a whole house shouldn't take more than one workday! It does, and then I lose momentum. A regular cleaning day averts some of those pitfalls and allows me to concentrate on specific areas.
I've considered going back to Flylady's way of keeping a home clean. Her "zone" concept is really quite effective. I need to use the zones in my planner, to help facilitate cleaning the house better. I think "better" is part of my goal! I'll find a way to work cleaning into this year's planner, although I'm looking forward to a new format soon!
I pray you're having a blessed and cheerful Monday! I love the beginning of a new week, and I pray you catch some of that joy and cheer for your day, too!
