h/t The James Bond Dossier
The reason for the title of this post is to raise the question of whether Bond 26 is really a thing?
Earlier today, David Leigh of The James Bond Dossier published a post with updates about how Barbara Broccoli is trying to put together a movie starring Daniel Craig in a modern update of Othello. It would be based on a 2016 play with Craig.
This appears to be the main interest of the boss of Eon Production these days. Another James Bond movie? Oh, forget it.
Eon has registered with the U.K. government a filing referring to THE OTHELLO FILM COMPANY LIMITED.
We'll see how it turns out. But, at last, can we dispense with the fiction that Eon's non-Bond projects have no effect on future James Bond films?
As this blog has stated before, Eon is a mom-and-pop shop that controls a global IP. When Cubby Broccoli ran Eon, Bond ruled supreme. Today? Not so much.
Bond, these days, at least at times, takes a backseat to other projects at Eon.
