Ahead of Joe Biden's speech to the Democratic National Convention, a Florida Senator is questioning the President's foreign policy moves and motivations.
"You look at Biden and some of these decisions they made just don't make any sense unless there's some benefit to somebody," U.S. Rick Scott said on Newsmax.
"In my state, we've never understood why he released sanctions on Cuba, why he released sanctions on Venezuela. ... We don't understand why he reduced the sanctions on Iran. So you always wonder what was the purpose of these things? And was there some financial benefit to somebody?"
Scott has been vocal about the administration's lack of support for Nicolas Maduro's opposition in Venezuela and the Biden administration's accommodations to Tehran. Scott has also said Biden's appeasement of the Cuban regime would breed "terror" throughout the Western Hemisphere.
His comments Monday from Chicago come as the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, Committee on the Judiciary, and Committee on Ways and Means released a report contending Biden has committed "impeachable conduct" in office.
The panels allege that over the last decade, "as part of a conspiracy to monetize Joe Biden's office of public trust to enrich the Biden family, Biden family members and their associates received over $27 million from foreign individuals or entities."
Indeed, the Republicans in Congress think Biden's purported corruption is a family affair.
"Hunter Biden involved Vice President Biden in many of his business dealings with Russian, Romanian, Chinese, Kazakhstani, and Ukrainian individuals and companies. Then-Vice President Biden met or spoke with nearly every one of the Biden family's foreign business associates, including those from Ukraine, China, Russia, and Kazakhstan," the legislative committees charge.
They also charge that the "White House has obstructed the Committees' impeachment inquiry by withholding key documents and witnesses" and "has impeded the Committees' investigation of President Biden's unlawful retention of classified documents, by refusing to make relevant witnesses available for interviews and by erroneously asserting executive privilege."
