Hi read, How are you this week? It was already a rough two years. Then there was a swirl of emotion from last week. And it's time to transition to your summer routine. It's a lot. Let's talk about summer as a working mom. The struggle as you transition to summer is real. And you're not alone if you're on the struggle bus. I've been in your shoes. I've noticed there are a lot of conversations and questions about dealing with the transition to summer this year. I'm sharing 3 tips that have worked for me to make a difference this year. Share the mental load. I realized one day earlier this summer that as the Mommy Shuttle Service, I was taking 2 hours each day to get my boys to/from summer and year round activities. And then I walked the dog for an hour. That was 3 hours out of my day. I had had enough. My husband had no idea until I said something. We're now dividing the drop off and pick up duties. And don't be shy to talk to friends who are going to the same spots. Maybe you switch off where kids go after too. Be intentional with your time. If you haven't done the weekly and nightly planning for the next day, it might be time to start. On Sunday define your goals for the week. Get an idea of general flow of the week as you account for things like big meetings and presentations. Then each night you plan the next day. This way you know your priorities and how you'll spend your time. If you're not planning, you're likely wasting valuable time. And you're reacting instead of being proactive and intentional with your actions. Think about how you work. Your usual work style – what is essentially your productivity method – might not work with kids at home. Take some time to consider what changes you might need to make in how your work and what will help you be productive this summer. I share more about 3 productivity methods if you want to know more. What's helping you in this transition to summer? Are there areas you're struggling with? Be well, Suzanne PS Sending kids to camp this summer?
