I have been using stevia to sweeten everything else, but I cannot get the flavor right without sugar. My kids and husband love this Lemonade that I used to make just for mommy. I love to freeze this into ice cubes to keep the lemonade from diluting.
I usually triple this batch we use so much of it.
The basic recipe is :
4 1/2 cups of sugar
4 1/2 cups of water
2 cups of loosely packed mint leaves
2 tablespoons of lavender buds
In a saucepan, mix sugar and water. Boil two minutes. Add mint leaves and lavender. Steep twenty minutes. Cool and strain with a sieve to remove the bits.
Lemonade:
Juice 6-8 lemons
3 cups water
2 cups of lemon/mint syrup.
I have used this lavender/mint syrup in cakes. It is lovely mixed up into a basic white cake with 1 tablespoon of lemon zest.
I have made ice cream and ice pops from this syrup and tea.
