Isaiah 53 verse 5: "But He was pierced because of our transgression, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on Him, and we are healed by His wounds:.
What a great verse for Easter week. Some people may say. 'why did that have to happen'? The verse before it explains that: V6:
"We all went astray like sheep; we all have turned to our own way; and The Lord has punished Him for the iniquities of us all".
God is a Holy God. God is A Righteous God, God is A Just God, and God is a Loving God. God's Holiness, can not sin {transgress} or tolerate sin transgression. That might seem harsh, but He is also All-Knowing {Omniscient}.
He knows the life draining effects of sin [ Transgressions, wrong-doings}, We had no way, to heave fellowship with a Holy and Righteous God, but because He is Just and Loving, He gave of Himself, for 'Whosoever' who would receive repent and receive John 3 verse 16;
Isaiah 53 is a prophecy of what His only begotten Son, Christ Jesus would go through on our behalf to restore us to fellowship with Him. But Isaiah 53 doesn't give us the details of Christ History in advance, it explains the purpose of it,
We are the reason, Christ Jesus, was pierced and crushed and punished and wounded. His gruesome death was redemptive in nature.
The cross was not a mere event, or accident of history or random act of violence, it in verse 6, we have the answer, it was for us, any 'whosoever' who wants to come fellowship with a Loving God. True love is not wishey-washey, it will always seek justice for wrong doing.
In Hebrews 9 verse 11 to 22; Tells us of The New Covenant, Christ Jesus paid the high price for us 'any whosoever' to have with Him and The Father and The Holy Spirit.
God Bless.
