Roundup of recent DWP announcements
Massive boost to childcare payments marks first step in largest ever expansion of childcare
As part of the Government's biggest ever expansion to childcare provision, low-income families will be able to access increased childcare support from 28 June.
Later this month, DWP will raise the amount that parents in Great Britain can claim back monthly for their childcare costs on Universal Credit to £951 for one child and £1,630 for two or more children. This is a rise of 47% from the previous limits of £646 for one child or £1,108 for two or more children.
At the same time, the Government will help eligible parents cover the costs for the first month's childcare when they enter work or significantly increase their hours, removing one of the most significant barriers to parents working and helping to grow the economy.

Pension Credit Week of Action
This year our Pension Credit Week of Action takes place between 12 and 16 June and we are urging people to check their eligibility and claim.
Pension Credit gives people extra money to help with their living costs if they are over State Pension age and on a low income. Pension Credit can also provide access to a range of other benefits such as help with housing costs, council tax, heating bills and for those aged 75 or over, a free TV licence.
Although take up of Pension Credit is at the highest level since 2010, there are still too many people missing out.
The Pension Credit Toolkit is available now, so stakeholders can start planning communications. Our 'Everyone's an Advocate' campaign recognises that friends and family of people over State Pension age can play an important role in raising awareness of Pension Credit. We therefore encourage you to also highlight Pension Credit among your own internal staff networks using assets in the toolkit. There will also be new content during the week of action across our social media channels including @DWPgovuk.
Withdrawal of Form BD8 - Registration or notification of death
The BD8 'Registration or Notification of Death' form is part of the death registration process to assist bereaved citizens when contacting DWP to report a death. The form can only be used for DWP purposes. Changes in the way deaths can be reported, such as the introduction of the Tell Us Once cross-government service which reduces admin for customers, remove the need to provide a BD8 to DWP. From 29 May 2023, the BD8 will be removed from circulation and will no longer be provided by the Registrar when a death is registered. Citizens will still be able to find information about bereavement related support on GOV.UK or alternatively they can contact the DWP Bereavement Service on 0800 151 2012 / Textphone: 0800 731 0464.
