Praise the Lord
Isaiah 61:3 speaks of a 'garment of praise'. This verse says, "to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning; the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness." Praise here is given as the antidote for the spirit of heaviness.
This week I have been challenged regarding giving praise, regardless of how I feel or the circumstances I find myself in. Most agree that praise is good, but many don't necessarily feel any responsibility to praise the Lord when they don't feel like it.
Joy is a 'noun' but praise/rejoicing is a 'doing word/action. '
Praise affects you; Acts 16:22-26. Paul and Silas, who had been beaten and thrown into a dungeon, were praising at midnight. They were worshipping God our of a pure heart because they loved Him. They were set free.
Praise affects the devil and his plans; 2 Chronicles chapter 20. The praise and worship of the people sent the enemy into confusion.
Praise affects God. Psalm 22 verse 3 "But You are holy Enthroned in the praises of Israel."
I hear a comment recently: "praise isn't the caboose that just follows what happens, but it's more like the engine of a train that make things happen."
The well-known verse of Psalm 100:4 says "enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him and bless His name".
Some research says that praise may lower blood pressure; boost the immune system and help one to experience less burnout.
Seeds of disappointment can't grow in the soil of grateful hearts.
"Bless the Lord oh my soul and remember all His benefits."
