2 Corinthians 6 verse 18:
"I will be a Father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty."
This comes from a chapter that refers to Separation to God. In His writings Paul is imploring his readers not to have anything to do with people who lead them astray, but to separate themselves from them.
Separating ourselves from the kingdom of this world because we now belong to The Kingdom of God. We live in the world, but we are not of the world.
Our Lord and our friend wants to commune with us, and He cannot tolerate sin {wrong doings against Him}, and He calling us out from the world that regularly participate in them.
Sure we remain sinner saved by Grace, but we have now been forgiven, the start of a new walk in intimacy with God. Paul here quotes from the Old Testament to show us that God longs for intimate communion with us.
2 Samuel 7 verse 14 and 15: Referring to King David, who was called a man 'A Man after God's own heart', and that is what we all should be 'people after God's own heart'.
V14: "I will be a Father to him, and he will be a son to Me."
v15: " My faithful love will never leave Him"
David was a man after God's own heart, King Saul was not,a reference to the two kingdoms.
God longs to be a 'Father' to both men and woman. He wants affection relationship with both sons and daughters, but we must leave one kingdom thinking and lifestyle, and live where we belong, in His Kingdom, even though our feet are in this world.
2 Corinthians 6 verse 16:
"For we are the sanctuary of the living God, as God said: ' I will dwell among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.
Verse 17 goes on to say, come out from among the people, that are apart of a different kingdom, where God is not their King, keep ourselves clean before God, {but we can only do this with His help} and He will welcome us, to be called sons and daughters.
God so loved that He gave. We should responded to the love, so He can call us sons and daughters.
God Bless
