Philippians filter
I heard this phrase the other day and wanted to share it here with you. Some titles for this verse are 'meditate on these things' or 'fix your thoughts'.
Philippians 4 verse 8 "Finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – mediate on these things".
Along with Romans chapter 12 verse 2 "stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total transformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God's will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes". (The Passion Translation).
We know that renewing our minds is a daily, ongoing process. We fix our thoughts in the truth of God's Word, looking always to our Lord and Friend, our Teacher, Helper and Guide.
The 'Philippians filter' mentioned above says to meditate on things – true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous and praiseworthy.
Romans 12:2 offers a total transformation of how we think as we are inwardly transformed by Holy Spirit. And as we allow our thoughts to flow through this 'Philippians filter', we will be empowered to discern God's will; Live a life that is beautiful and satisfying and perfect in His eyes.
Father God, thank You for Your Word that tells us who we are in You and Your thoughts towards us. Thank You for Your Grace that empowers us to live freely and fully and to be all You've called us to be. In Jesus Name. Amen.
