"Suffering is like a storm that drives you to a safe place." -- Troy Gentz
The past few months I have fallen off the back of a truck and bruised my spine and ribs, endured bronchitis which turned into pneumonia, suffered through a lingering, hacking cough, and sustained a painful back injury which has handicapped me. On top of that, my husband got COVID and then stomach flu.
My faith has not floundered, but I have wondered out loud, many times in tears, about why this is happening to me. What are you up to God? Why don't you heal me and take away the pain? I feel like such a wimp when compared with the sufferings of others that I know and all the sufferings going on in the world.
But then I started reading this morning the blogs that I follow. The struggles and sufferings of Samaritan's Song sounded very familiar. The message God gave was for me too.
Wait and see what I will do.
Oh, that's a hard one: wait and see. Believe my promises. Trust in my love for you.
And then I read Alan Kearn's Devotional Treasure.
"The word 'revived' comes from the Hebrew word châyâh, which means to be recovered, repaired or restored ... The power of scripture is from God; 'for by them You have revived me' - scripture is His surgical scalpel and soothing balm for His children."
Trust in my Word. I will revive, repair, restore you.
And then I clicked on Beholding Him Ministries' Hope for Today.
Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16
As Samaritan's Song responded, so do I Lord: "Okay," I said to the dark. "…okay."
I say too, "Okay." Okay, Lord, I will wait and see what you will do. Thank you for your Word, your surgical scalpel. Thank you for answering me this morning.
I will trust that you are working in my situation, even though in the darkness I can't see you. I will approach the throne of grace with confidence in your unfailing love and amazing grace and daily mercies – new every morning.
Great is your faithfulness!
