#NewComicsday and it's a great day to be a comic book enthusiast! Now this is what I call a full week and a budget killer for sure! It's weeks like this that make if far more difficult to pick then the lighter weeks. So many to choose and only five spots to fill but don't overlook Penguin and Flash which have been solid reads from DC. Marvel is just on fire As Wolverine and Hulk continues to shock readers, it's like the 90's all over again. While Image refuses to be left behind with the return of Sam and Twitch complemented with a chiller Under York. The All C's Collector Expo is our sponsor and the free to attend event is only two weeks away, but for now we've got five stacked high ready to fly:
Ultimate Spider-Man #3> PETER PARKER'S NEW LIFE GETS EVEN MORE COMPLICATED… Spider-Man sizes up the new hero Green Goblin! As they team up to fight a new super villain, secrets about the corporations running North America are revealed… And you'll never guess who discovers Spider-Man's secret identity! (S) Jonathan Hickman (A) Marco Checchetto
Smurfs Take> I like the questions that this story is asking and has not been the typical Spidey story. This is a very different world, a very different Peter, and has been a great read with the perfect twists on characters that have been well established over the years. So far, fresh and fun with all the comforts of home.
Duke #4> Duke is close to discovering the truth about the alien robots that have landed on Earth.
But who—or what—is M.A.R.S.? (S) Joshua Williamson (A) Tom Reilly, Jordie Bellaire
Smurfs Take> This has been everything I expected and more! The merger of the two universes has been a thing of beauty while taking the reader on an action thrill ride. Best of all the characters are so well thought out and just not static stand-ins for the sake of just having someone there. There's real purpose, not just a toy line to push.
Feral #1> SERIES PREMIERE
A NEW HORROR FROM THE CREATORS OF STRAY DOGS!
Meet Elsie, Lord Fluffy Britches, and Patch, three indoor cats lost in the not-so-great outdoors during a nightmarish rabies outbreak.
Without their humans to protect them, the cats rush to find their way home before they're eaten by the forest full of rabid beasts on their tails.
Don't get bit.
Don't get scratched.
Don't become…FERAL. (S) Tony Fleecs (A) Tone Rodriguez, Trish Forstner
Smurfs Take> Stray Dogs absolutely crushed it a couple of years ago as the surprise horror hit, and I have no doubt this will be the same way. Do not let doubt sway you from this by thinking it's just about cuddly little pets…. you're in for a surprise.
GODS #6> Aiko has done a bad thing, and the only way she can set it right is to tell the truth and stop lying. But who doesn't love lying? Certainly not the Lion of Wolves. (S) Jonathan Hickman (A) Valerio Schiti
Smurfs Take> This is just storytelling at its best. Hickman proves you really don't need established characters to capture an audience and tell a compelling story. I don't know what's instore and I love it.
Predator: The Last Hunt #2> THE RETURN OF JOHN SCHAEFER! What is Dutch's brother doing on a Predator's game planet in the far reaches of space?! And more importantly - will he get in Theta's way? The lifelong refugee has revenge to serve up - and she is not about to let it get cold. Brisson and Manna's epic adventure continues! (S) Ed Brisson (A) Francesco
Smurfs Take> Since Marvel took over the Predator line it's been one hit after another. I've honestly been waiting for a dud but I'm here to tell you that doesn't look like it's going to happen for a while. Marvel has given the time and care this IP deserves and excited to see them expand this world even more.
