U.S. Sen. Rick Scott is again buying ad time to reach Hispanic voters, warning them that a change in Florida's Senate delegation could help the cause of socialism.
"Let's talk straight," Scott says in the beginning of the English language version of the Socialismo ad, which is running — along with a Spanish-language version — on television and digital in Florida as part of a multimillion-dollar ad buy.
"Every country that goes socialist destroys freedom and makes people poor. And President (Joe) Biden is moving America towards socialism. Everything, food, health care, housing, it all costs more, which leaves you with less. That's the way of socialism, the government gets stronger and the people get weaker. I'm Rick Scott, together you and I will stop socialism from coming here," the Senator promises.
The Senator's words are juxtaposed variously against images of unrest in the streets of a presumably socialist country, an emphatic President Biden speaking, a graphic depicting Biden's "socialist America," and the Senator making his call to action wearing his trademark Navy hat and a plaid shirt.
Per the Scott campaign, "the ad discusses how Joe Biden and the Democrats are pushing our nation towards socialism."
"While Joe Biden, the Democrats and Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell continue to embrace socialism and turn a blind eye to dangerous dictators in our hemisphere, Senator Scott has been clear that socialism has no place in America," the campaign statement reads.
"He remains committed to standing with every Floridian who wants a freer and more prosperous future, and continues to fight every day against the Democrats' radical socialist agenda so every American, regardless of their background, can have the chance at the dream of this country."
