#NewComicsday and it's a great day to be a comic book enthusiast! Lots of choices from all of the publishers this week, looks like everyone is trying to play. Valiant with a strong start with XO Man of War and Dynamite continuing to impress with Thundercats. DC offers a Gotham by Gaslight that has a lot of potential and Man-Bat showing up in Batman & Robin that continues to surprise. Don't miss GODS and A new Scarlet Witch from Marvel and Image with Something Epic and Remote Space. Summer is upon us and if you need to make room take your unwanted collectibles to our sponsor All C's who will pay top dollar for it. Now it's time for what you've all been waiting for, we've got five stacked high ready to fly.
Transformers #9> The wars on Cybertron and Earth converge in ways the Autobots and Decepticons never expected…(S) Daniel Warren Johnson (A) Mike Spicer, Jorge Corona
Smurfs Take> The weight of the world. Skybound has done something only a few have been able to do (Valiant) well. The roads are all going somewhere for the different titles, but all seem to cross in a lot of different places the reader doesn't expect. This continues to be my favorite title of the young new universe as I see characters I know so well thriving in new and amazing ways. I'm calling it now…this is the comic book title of the year.
Ain't No Grave #2> Ryder seeks out Death in the city of Cypress, but quickly realizes that Death is on the hunt for her as well. She's a wanted woman and every bullet in this dark place is looking to put her in a grave. (S) Skottie Young (A) Jorge Corona
Smurfs Take> Just something about a western set in space! Great first issue, I mean absolutely flawless. If you can find a first issue grab it! This will be the story everyone will be talking about over the summer.
Strange Academy: Blood Hunt #2> The Strange Academy kids' mission to find a spell to solve the Blood Hunt has taken them all the way to Madripoor to find THE DARKHOLD! Readers of CONTEST OF CHAOS know, however, that the Darkhold is now a child and the only way to stop the Vampire onslaught means…the death of the Darkhold Child! (S) Daniel Older (A) Luigi Zagaria
Smurfs Take> Oh how I've missed the kids. Even if it's a crossover with the Blood Hunt story arc they never disappoint. Great title, great characters, and best of all just a fun read.
Green Lantern #12> DISCOVERY – Part One
Having uncovered the truth behind the United Planets, Hal and the rest of the 2814 lanterns desperately try to escape the hands of the United Planets' Lanterns, Ring Hunters, and the terrifying Unseen! Only a former ally gives Hal a chance of survival, but will they be too late to save him from certain doom?! Plus, Guy Gardner's bogus Lobo adventure gets somehow even crazier. Don't ask us how; we just work here. (S) Jeremy Adams (A) Xermanico, Kevin Maguire
Smurfs Take> Well it's about damn time! Been waiting for this moment and it only took 12 issues for it to happen. One of the best stories DC has going on right now, not only because I'm a big GL fan but just how this whole story has been crafted and put together. Total package between these pages that keeps the reader entertained from beginning to end and loving the choices with Hal.
Blood Hunt #3 Red Band> NIGHT HAS FALLEN. WILL THE SUN RISE AGAIN? As the hero's rally at the Sanctum Sanctorum, they must first deal with a threat close to their hearts! And while they raise the torch of defiance, the new lord of the vampires enacts his dreaded scheme! (S) Jed Mackay (A) Pepe Larraz
Smurfs Take> Great carnage! And now we're about to get to the real heart of the story, so it can only get more interesting. The best part of the story for me is watching which hero goes down first, but beside that the story has been good and more importantly kept my attention.
