The Sh*t Kids Unintentionally Say Is Absolutely Wild & Brutal

"If you have a kindergarten teacher in your life, give them a hug. They need it. Because they've now spent weeks in a classroom with 20 or so little personalities and little anxieties. And probably big insults. Because no one knows how to cut a person to the quick like a little kid. I'm talking about the kind of insults that you think about before you fall asleep at night, the kind that stay with you for years and years," writes Jen McGuire. And boy, she's got some doozies to share.

October Book Club Announcement: 'Madwoman' by Chelsea Bieker!
October Book Club Announcement: 'Madwoman' by Chelsea Bieker!

When Clove, a crunchy suburban mom living her best life, receives a letter from her mom...her entire life turns upside down because, as far as Clove knew, her mom (and everyone else from her past) thought she was dead. @chelseabieker's writing takes readers into Clove's traumatic past and nail-biting present with such detail and vivid imagery that you will literally feel like you're right there with her as she tries to figure out what the f*ck she's going to do about her current predicament.

Thrilling in some parts, and gut-wrenching in others, this story, the characters, and how the events of Clove's life all come together in the end really make for a fantastic book! Unsettling, thrilling, and mind-bendy, we could not be more excited to have MADWOMAN as the SM Book Club October pick. — Katie Garrity, Editor, News & Social

Just Boos, No Boo Boos
The Actual Must-Follow Trick-Or-Treat Safety Tips, According To The AAP

Yes, yes, it's early to be talking about trick-or-treating. But I really love this piece by Katie McPherson about the Halloween safety tips that actually matter — according to pediatricians.

She writes: "'Don't take homemade Halloween treats because they could have razor blades in them.' This little gem of a Halloween safety tip has actually been proven to be more of an urban legend than a real threat, but it's top of parents' minds nonetheless. Ahead of Halloween this year, the American Academy of Pediatrics has prepped a list of legit trick-or-treat safety tips for parents with kids of all ages. These pointers are based on real hazards and risks pediatricians know families encounter while they're out getting their spook on." It's practical and it's useful.
