I have mentioned it before at how I marvel at the choices used in music for movies and TV shows. There have been times when it works well and helps with the narrative and others that miss the mark and it feels like the song just got picked off the, "what was free list" with no real consideration for the story. Then there's times that it hits the point so well the impact is felt, matching the emotion and tone of the story with the accuracy of a surgeon. Granted Hollywood has improved in it's musical choices I still think it takes true vision to exceed the way this soundtrack has.
It's difficult to pick just one stand out song from Sweet Tooth on Netflix, so working with that idea I decided to go with the one that set the tone for the entire series and left me so moved I stayed up all night to complete the series. I love the band and the choice to use "Dirty Paws" for the final scenes of the first episode was genius. The Icelandic band "Of Monsters and Men" has only been around since 2010 with a number of top ten hits to their credit already. And while they are classified as an indie folk band they have an incredible range that envelopes their listeners in an energetic euphoria. If you have yet to watch Sweet Tooth please do and be prepared for an adventure that's truly unique, I'm the Listener and this is my choice for todays life in progress track for Classic Rock Wednesday with "Dirty Paws".
