The Vancouver Sun and Province newspaper revealed in an obituary posted on September 17, 2021 that voice actor French Tickner passed away on August 26, 2021. He had turned 91 on that day.
Tickner was born in Olney, Illinois on August 26, 1930. He attended Millikin University in Decatur for his Bachelor of Music, before enlisting in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He went to USC for graduate school, then attended UBC School of Music, where he headed opera and voice for over 25 years.
Tickner provided the voice for Watari in Death Note, Kagome's Grandpa in Inuyasha, and Dozle Zabi in Mobile Suit Gundam. Outside of anime, he provided the voice for Lord Cucuface in The New Adventures of Madeline animated series.
