Who doesn't love a good homage cover? Marvel is hoping the answer to that question is "no one," as they've announced a series of homage variant covers coming to ten of their January shipping titles, with artwork by prolific cover artists like Peach Momoko, Philip Tan, and David Nakayama, as well as from Marvel mainstays like Mike McKone, Will Sliney, and Stephen Mooney, among others. No info was provided on whether these variant covers will be open-to-order or incentivized for retailers.
Here's the full list and a look at all of the homage variant covers coming from Marvel in January:

X-MEN LEGENDS #11 Homage Variant Cover by KEN LASHLEY with colors by JUAN FERNANDEZ
(Something about putting an homage variant cover on X-Men Legends, a series that itself is essentially an homage series to past eras of the X-Men, feels particularly appropriate.)
So here's a semantics question: if the cover features the exact same characters in the exact same positions, is it really an homage? It's a recreation at that point, I think. The Momoko and Sliney/Rosenberg covers are homages to me because they call back to the original covers without copying them outright. The other covers are straight-up recreations, though. I suppose "Recreation Variant Cover" doesn't quite flow off the tongue the way "Homage Variant Cover" does, though.
Look for all of these covers to arrive in stores in January.
