LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (WFLA) – Prices at Walt Disney World Resort continue to increase after the parks were closed for months last year during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

New tiers of annual passes and a new system of paying to skip the lines of the parks' newest or most popular rides have been introduced over the past year and reservations to visit one of Disney World's four parks are still required throughout the holidays and in to 2022.

Disney World's website touts that a standard single-day one-park ticket for both Florida residents and others are $109. However, ticket prices vary depending on the day of the week and time of year.

A single ticket for Christmas day to Disney World is currently $169.34 a person including tax.

For a family of four, prices to Disney World can become very steep very quickly. 8 On Your Side is looking in to just how much a week-long trip to the parks would cost a family during Christmas.

Note: For the purposes of this story, standard ticket prices for a non-Florida resident for one theme park without the "park hopper" option have been used. The following information also assumes everyone in the group is over 10-years-old, requiring a standard adult ticket. This vacation for a family of four would take place from Sunday, Dec. 19 through Christmas Day, a Saturday. This story does not take in to account any special offers on tickets or resort prices currently available through Disney World.

Ticket prices

Single daily tickets without tax for a Disney World park for the week of Christmas range from $145 from Sunday through Thursday, $150 on Christmas Eve and $159 on Christmas day.

As of Nov. 8, reservations to Magic Kingdom for both Christmas Eve and Christmas day are full. Reservations to Hollywood Studios are closed on Dec. 21.

To purchase theme park tickets for four adults, for seven days ranging from Dec. 19 through Christmas, the price totals $2,613.40, with tax. A trip on Christmas day itself for the same family would cost $677.36.

Resorts

As of Nov. 8, six resorts at Disney World are still taking reservations for the span of Christmas week.

Current resorts available for a party of four include the All-Star Music Resort, the Art of Animation Resort, Coronado Springs Resort, the Yacht Club Resort, the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney's Beach Club Resort.

The most inexpensive resort for the timeframe of Christmas week is the All-Star Music Resort, costing $251 per night for a total of $1,994.34.

The most expensive is the Grand Floridian Resort at $1,086 per night, in an "outer building" location with a garden view. For seven nights, this expensive resort will run guests $8,552.25 for Christmas week.

How do ticket prices compare?

To take a family of four to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay for seven days, the price, excluding tax, would come to $2,559.72. Standard admission at Busch Gardens on Christmas for a family of four is $414.15, with tax.

Universal Orlando brings back BOGO ticket deal for Florida residents

At Busch Gardens' sister park, SeaWorld Orlando, tickets run a bit higher throughout Christmas week, ranging from $91.99 per single ticket to $103.99. For a family to get in to the park for a week, the price, without tax, is $2,671.72. Admission for the same family on Christmas would come to $415.96.

At Orlando's other major theme park, Universal Orlando Resort, park-to-park tickets for both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure valid any five days between Dec. 21 and Dec. 28, is $1,657.12 for a family of four, with tax, at $388.74 per ticket. Single tickets for Christmas Day are $214, for a total of $856 for a family.
