Spring Break Doesn't Exist When You're A Parent

As the weather warms and thoughts turn to beaches, today Hampton Williams Hofer reflects on the expectations versus the reality of spring break with kids. Specifically: you're not on vacation in the same sense as your pre-kid days, so much as you've simply relocated for a while. It will be chaos, and you will not get your coordinated matching-swimsuit family photo. "Two children fit in said swimsuits, another has somehow grown three sizes since Thanksgiving, and yet another has imprinted on the Paw Patrol surf shorts he saw at the beach gas station," she paints the picture.

At the same time, you might find the vibes familiar, after all: "As it turns out, spring break with toddlers isn't so different from a party bus in Panama City Beach. Sunburn, shenanigans, and too little sleep? Check, check, and check," she writes. The more things change!

Virtual Therapy Changed My Postpartum Life

After a miscarriage and having a fourth baby during the pandemic, Alexandra Frost knew she needed therapy. Ironically, the pandemic actually allowed her to access it: "Virtual therapy opened up access to mental healthcare for many groups, including moms with no time and (hopefully) napping babies in the next room. For once, I could say yes to myself, and my own needs, by just jumping on a Zoom call."
