In German, the verb used for waiting is warten. The interesting part is that you do not use it like you use it in English.
Example: I am waiting for an answer. - ich warte für eine Antwort. >> using für is incorrect.
The verb warten is always used with auf. No matter what. Another detail (if you want to know 
), is that this verb comes with the Akkusativ form! The correct way of using the word is, ich warte auf eine Antwort.
- I am waiting for my friend. Ich warte auf meine Freundin.
- I have been waiting long for the bus. Ich warte hier auf den Bus.
- I am waiting for you. Ich warte auf dich.
- I will wait for her.
Ich werde auf sie warten.
