NOOOOOO
That Time My Five-Year-Old Pooped In The Pool At A Party

One of the proudest moments of my life as a parent was the time I realized my kid was about to poop in the public pool and I whisked her to the bathroom just in time – and it also gave me new sympathy for whoever is responsible on those days when said pool mysteriously shuts down early. It could happen to any of us with kids of a certain age, at any time!

And so I particularly enjoyed today's piece from Samm Burnham Davidson about the time her kid made an unwelcome contribution to a pool party: "This wild turn of events was so unanticipated, despite me typicallyworrying about every possible scenario in social settings." You know what they say… it happens.

Fess up: How many of those baby registry items did you barely use? Even Laura Fenton, a devoted minimalist, admits she bought some stuff she didn't really need, despite her best efforts: "The more I read, the more I began to suspect that all those 'must-haves' in articles and baby registries were really just a way to fool us new moms into spending the maximum amount of money on gear." But she writes that she's glad to have avoided one item that she sees as completely unnecessary. And it's a controversial one!
