1 Chronicles 16:34 Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Just what is a blessing? I'm sure everyone has their own thoughts on what a blessing is. The dictionary has this to say.
Blessing - noun
God's favor and protection. ("may God continue to give us his blessing")
I can not list every blessing for they out number the stars in the heavens and the sands of the sea.
We can not out give God, for it is God that gives us what we give.
Each day is a blessing, every breath is a blessing, our home, food and family are blessings. Yes, even our jobs are a blessing. Simply put, everything we have or receive is a blessing from God.
It is God that protects and provides for our every need. He knows what we need even more than we do.
We often take God's blessings for granted, not even noticing or acknowledging them.
Have you ever just sat and thought of the many blessings you receive each day? It is truly overwhelming, the smallest of things is a blessing from God, the creator of all things. And this blessing was created and given to you.
Even our daily struggles are in fact a blessing from God, for they help us grow. They help us see how much we need Him and how much He loves us. Even though we often do not acknowledge and give thanks for our blessings, God does not hold back His loving blessings from us. In His word we find many promises and blessings, in fact His word itself is a blessing of great treasure.
What greater blessing is there than God Himself? While we still lost in our sins, God sent His Son to be the sacrifice for our sins. God Himself provided the blessing for our salvation. So how may we acknowledge this great blessing? By striving to live a life holy and pleasing to God and seek Him in all we do. And our lives will be blessed all the more.
Please take some time, (which is also a blessing) to think about your many blessings and give thanks for them.
