Handing my friend a cocktail, I watched her admire her glass. Then she stated, I been meaning to ask you where you buy these fancy ice cubes. I looked into my own glass and laughed, informing her I make them. We sipped in silence admiring my gardens, and she asked "really? They are so perfectly balanced and shaped." I laughed, and informed her people made them even fancier, and I showed her my ice cube stash before she left. For the curious: flavored ice cubes are simple. Here is the recipe.
Fruit of your choice (I used blueberries)
A few fresh mint leaves
Water to cover
Directions: Simmer for a half hour or longer, strain in a sieve into clear bowl, disregard bowl of fruit, transfer liquid into oversized ice cube molds. I tend to utilize large ice cubes molds as they keep the drinks colder longer. If you want to get fancy you can add fresh whole fruit to the molds, and then pour liquid into the mold. Cheers!
