Psalm 147:3-9 "He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite. The Lord lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground. Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praises on the harp to our God, who covers the heavens with clouds, who prepares rain for the earth, who makes grass grow on the mountains. He gives the beast its food, and to the young ravens that cry".
Have you ever thought how many stars there are? Astronomers cant even tell us. They assure us though, that the universe contains more stars than can be numbered. Billions, even trillions.
It's hard to comprehend figures like that. Even millions is mind-boggling. If you were to count a million dollar coins at the rate of 60 per minute for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, it would take you nearly 7 weeks. At the same rate, it would take over 133 years to count a billion dollars.
In Genesis 1:16 we are told that God created the sun, moon and the stars. Also in Isaiah 40:26 "He brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might, and the strength of His power; not one of them is missing".
So if we ever wonder whether God is able to help us with all our burdens, let us remember that He is the one true God; the creator of the universe. Surely the one who can put the stars in place, can deal with our situations.
If you get the chance to look at the stars on a clear night, be thankful that the God who named each one, loves and cares for you.
